Historians on Housewives brings together scholars from interdisciplinary backgrounds to explain The Housewives phenomenon, and to explore how issues of race, gender, class, and sexuality can better shape understandings of American and world history. This project utilizes a popular archive (Bravo programming) to connect historical issues to the present. We are seeking scholars interested in contributing to podcast episodes, conference panels, symposium and edited volumes.
The project is headquartered in Orange County, California where Bravo launched the Housewife franchise with The Real Housewives of Orange County. Consisting of a blog, podcast, conference panels, symposia and edited volumes, we welcome and encourage scholars of all ranks to discuss their observations of reality television and celebrity news as it pertains to their research interests.
